Overview

Questline were approached by the CEO of a multi-academy trust to work with a group of senior leaders in a primary school in transition; including headteachers, deputy heads and department heads. The CEO wanted to the programme to help the team regroup, build momentum and rediscover direction and purpose.

Approach

We started with a 1:1 fact-find meeting with the sponsor (the CEO) to understand the challenges and potential focus areas.

Questline kicked off the 6-months Collaborate programme with a group workshop with a cohort of 10. The sponsor introduced the programme and its aims and handed over to the Questline’s facilitator.  The workshop covered –  how we wanted to work together and an introduction to the programme and familiarisation with the approach to ensure all delegates were at ease. The delegates spent some time exploring their vision of excellence and key actions that may be required to reach this and started drawing up initial goals to align to the overall vision and actions.

A period of 1:1 coaching then followed, with initial goal setting and contracting,  followed by exploration of goals where delegates were encouraged to raise awareness (emotional intelligence), take action and reflect upon results to bring into the next sessions.

We reformed as a team for a group facilitated workshop at the mid-point to talk through and share observations and  land the learning with the group.  This was done through action learning principles where delegates were encouraged to bring a particular challenge to the group and for this to be explored by the group through open questioning and challenging to help reach meaningful actions and drive progress towards goals.

We concluded the 1:1 coaching sessions and met for a final group session where the team presented and landed their thoughts, reflections and future actions to sustain the learning. This was once again done through action learning principles and reflective learning.

Results

Delegates were able to align on a joint vision and set individual goals to help towards this.

The Collaborate program helped stabilise the team and offer support during a major change period. Delegates reported positive results both personally and organisationally and felt that they were more aligned as a result of the programme.

Conclusion
The delegates scored us an average 9.4 out of 10 for satisfaction and likelihood for recommending the programme to others.
We were invited to run another cohort to extend to all schools within the trust
